Okanagan
The Okanagan is known for its sunshine, wines, landscapes, lakes, and mountains. The region's population is approximately 350,927, and the primary city is Kelowna but there are also dozens of other communities throughout region (Armstrong, Vernon, Oliver, Summerland, Peachland, Penticton, Westbank, etc), covering approximately 20,000 km² (8,000 mi²). The economy is retirement and commercial-recreation based, with outdoor activities such as boating and watersports, snow skiing and hiking. Agriculture has been focused primarily on fruit orchards, with a recent shift in focus to vineyards and wine.
