Vancouver
Surrounded by water on three sides and nestled alongside the Coast Mountain Range, Vancouver is the largest city in the province of British Columbia with over half a million residents and one of the mildest climates in Canada. Home to spectacular natural scenery and a bustling metropolitan core, Vancouver was home to the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2010.
Vancouver’s equestrian community is situated on the Fraser River in the very south-west corner of the City, in a neighbourhood called Southlands. Protected from development by the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) and RA-1 zoning, Southlands is truly unique. Although the busy downtown core is less than 5 miles away, a walk in Southlands will reveal open vistas and meadows where horses and other animals graze. Because land is available to keep animals, an equestrian community flourishes here, anchored by the 16-acre Southlands Riding Club. Roughly 300 horses live here on about 100 properties, spread over approximately 250 acres. Southlands is home to BC's largest Pony Club.
The vast majority of all property sales in the Southlands area over the past 10 years have been handled by Equus Estates team members.
